Features of stainless steel nylon anti-loosening hexagonal nuts
The reason why stainless steel nylon anti-loosening hexagonal nut can be locked and prevented from loosening is that a certain part of the nut body is deformed into a non-circular closing shape, so that the threaded hole is changed from a circle to an approximate ellipse or polygon, or the upper end of the nut is slotted and deformed, so that the threaded hole is changed to an approximate circle or non-circle with a slightly smaller diameter.
When the bolt is screwed into the non-circular threaded hole of the locking nut, the friction generated by the interference fit prevents the fastener from loosening. As long as it meets the technical requirements and use conditions specified in the standard, the anti-loosening of this locking nut is reliable. The manufacturing process of this nut is relatively simple. Its characteristics are that under the condition of ensuring the required mechanical properties, the volume and weight can be very small, and the wall thickness of the nut can also be very thin. It can be used in occasions where there are strict restrictions on the volume and weight of the fastener, and can be installed in narrow spaces with poor accessibility. Another feature of the nut is that it has a wide applicable temperature range, and its working temperature is only limited by the parent metal material and coating of the nut. As long as the appropriate materials and coatings are selected, it can be used in various occasions from low temperature to high temperature.
One type of non-metallic insert locking nut has a nylon block embedded in the threaded hole. When screwed together, the interference fit between the bolt and the nylon block produces friction resistance, thereby preventing the fastener from loosening. It is very reliable in preventing loosening, but its disadvantage is that it has poor reusability. When repeatedly screwed in and out, the nylon block is easily damaged, and the small hole on the thread where the nylon block is installed will cause serious stress concentration. Another type of this locking nut is a nylon ring with an inner diameter slightly smaller than the thread diameter embedded in the upper end of the nut, which is called a nylon locking nut. Its anti-loosening ability also comes from the friction resistance generated by the interference fit when the nylon material is screwed together with the bolt.
